• All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.
• All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-sized, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-sized, zip-top, clear plastic bag.
• Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.
• There are exceptions for baby formula, breast milk, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines.

• Make sure that you have any necessary medication for the duration of your trip, and keep it in your carry-on bag.
• Syringes/injection pens carried for the treatment of diabetes or anaphylactic shock should be accompanied by a medical certificate if they are to be taken on board in your carry-on bag.
• Make sure that any carry-on baggage is easily identifiable (attach a bright tag, ribbon or luggage strap), so that anyone assisting you in reclaiming it from the baggage carousel will find it easily from your description.
• Unplug and switch off any electrical appliances that won't be in use while you're away.
• Don't forget to lock all doors and windows. Timed security lights can also help keep your home safe.
• Cancel newspaper, milk and any other deliveries made to your home for the duration of your trip.
• Ask a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on your property, and perhaps pop in occasionally to move post and check that everything is OK.
• In the winter months if very cold weather is forecasted while you're away, it may be advisable to have your central heating come on for a couple of hours each day to prevent pipes freezing and bursting.
• Make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the airport. If you're early you can relax with a coffee or do a little bit of shopping before you board your flight.
• Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for your journey.

• Fly with everything you buy after the security checkpoint.
• Beverages brought from home or purchased before the security checkpoint may not be brought in.

• Everyone who travels by air goes through airport security checkpoints. Checkpoints are to ensure that no "prohibited items" are brought to a checkpoint, into the secure area of an airport, or aboard an aircraft.
• Before entering the metal detector you are required to remove your shoes and jackets. This includes all types of footwear due to the fact that many types of footwear can be used to carry prohibited items.
• Checked baggage may also be screened out of passengers' view depending on the physical configuration at each airport.

• Head coverings and religious garments are permitted during the screening process. You may be directed to additional screening if your clothing (religious or otherwise) is loose fitting or large enough to hide prohibited items.
• Avoid wearing anything that might contain metal such as: heavy jewelry, clothing with metal buttons or snaps, belt buckles or underwire bras as they can set off an alarm on the metal detector and slow you down.
• You can remove metal items at the security checkpoint and place them in the plastic bags offered at several airports or in the bins provided where they will then be sent through the X-ray machine.
• Pack your coats and jackets in your baggage when possible.
• TSA Security Officers have to identify any metal that is detected at the checkpoint.  If you set off the alarm, you will undergo additional screening.  This includes a hand-wand and pat-down inspection.

• Keep your airline boarding pass and government-issued photo ID available until exiting the security checkpoint (children are not required to show identification).
• If you aren't traveling and need to go through the security checkpoint to accompany someone, such as a child or other traveler with medical conditions who is traveling, check with the airline for required documentation

The size limitation of your luggage is calculated by adding the total outside dimensions of each bag, that is, length + width + height.

• Two checked bags at 62 in/157 cm each
• One carry-on bag at 45 in/114 cm

The maximum weight per checked bag is 50 lbs/23 kgs. The maximum weight per carry-on bag is 40 lbs/18 kgs. ($25 USD charge each for bags weighing 51-70 lbs.)

Excess Baggage:

Checked baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance will be charged as follows:

• $80 per piece for the first three additional pieces
• $105 per piece for the fourth, fifth, and sixth additional pieces
• $180 per piece for the seventh and any additional pieces
